The Caribbean Heritage Organization (CHO) and the Caribbean Heritage Magazine online join in solidarity with Haitians in both Haiti and the Diaspora as they endure the trauma of the January 12, 2010 devastating earthquake.
The US State Department Operations Center has set up the following number for Americans seeking information about family members in Haiti: 1-888-407-4747 (due to heavy volume, some callers may receive a recording). The Haitian embassy is still in the early stages of contacting American Citizens through the Warden Network. Communications are very difficult within Haiti at this time.
CHO encourages sympathizers to support established relief efforts such as the International Red Cross at www.icrc.org and entertainer Wyclef's organization www.yele.org.
